Chloe Grace Moretz in Mother/Android; Challenger: The Last Flight trailer

Chloe Grace Moretz is going back to kicking ass… Well, sort of.

The Addams Family (and Suspiria) actress will star in Miramax’s upcoming project, Mother/Android, which will be written and directed by Project Power writer Mattson Tomlin.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the sci-fi thriller will see Moretz take on the role of a young pregnant woman named Georgia, who’s trying to escape her country along with her boyfriend Sam. However, in the process of doing so, the duo gets caught in the middle of a war with artificial intelligence. With the birth of their first child just days away, the couple must travel through No Man’s Land, a known stronghold of the android uprising, so they can reach safety in time.

The story is loosely based on that of Tomlin’s birth parents, a young couple who wanted to save their child from the dangers of the Romanian Revolution.

The film will be produced by The Batman writer and director Matt Reeves (which Tomlin also worked on), under his 6th & Idaho banner, along with Adam Kassan and Rafi Crohn. Joining them as producers are Miramax’s Bill Block and Charles Miller.

Mother/ Android is a deeply personal story inspired by sacrifices made to bring me into this world,” said Tomlin in a statement. “I’m thrilled to be working with Miramax and my friend Matt Reeves to tell a story that speaks to the strength of humanity in the darkest of times.”

No planned release date has been announced for the film.

Next up, Netflix has released a trailer for Challenger: The Last Flight, a four-episode docuseries set to be released on Sept. 16.

The show will examine what happened on that fateful day in January of 1986, when the Challenger Space Shuttle’s launch took a disastrous turn and exploded 73-seconds into its flight, taking the lives of everyone on board, including, as the trailer highlights below, school teacher Christa McAuliffe.

The Netflix original series, which is produced by J.J. Abrams (Rise of Skywalker) and Glen Zipper (Dogs), will feature interviews with family members of lost crew members, while also investigating the decisions and events that eventually led to the explosion.

Challenger: The Final Flight lands on Netflix Sept. 16.

And finally, some good news to sing about!

Deadline is reporting that four cast members of Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist have been promoted to series regulars for the show’s upcoming second season: Andrew Leeds (Bones) and Alice Lee (ctrl alt delete), who play the titular Zoey’s (Don’t Breathe‘s Jane Levy) brother and sister-in-law, and Michael Thomas Grant (Roadies) and Kapil Talwalkar (The Loud House), Zoey’s Sprq Point colleagues Leif and Tobin.

The musically-inclined series, which airs on NBC, revolves around Zoey, a coder at the fictional San Francisco-based tech company Sprq Point, who, after an MRI-related mishap, mysteriously gets the power to hear people’s inner thoughts as expressed through song. Season 1 of the series saw Zoey and her family deal with her father’s slow medical decline and eventual passing, something the next season of the show will continue with.

Also starring on the show are Skylar Astin (Pitch Perfect), Alex Newell (Glee), John Clarence Stewart (Luke Cage), and Mary Steenburgen (The Good Place). Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls) also special guest stars. No word on whether Peter Gallagher (The O.C.) will reprise his role as the family’s now-dead patriarch.

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist is yet to set a second season premiere date.
