A New Age kicks off an evolutionary family feud in first trailer

by admin

Roll back the rock to the dawn of time and watch the first trailer for DreamWorks Animation‘s The Croods: A New Age.

Kelly Marie Tran (Star Wars: The Last Jedi), Kat Dennings (Thor), Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones), and Leslie Mann (Knocked Up) join the already stacked voice cast of returning actors: Emma Stone (“Eep Crood”), Nicolas Cage (“Grug Crood”), Ryan Reynolds (“Guy”), Catherine Kenner (“Ugga Crood”), Cloris Leachman (“Gran”), and Clark Duke (“Thunk Crood”).

Tran is playing Dawn, a member of the Betterman clan (get it? “Better Man”?), who is sheltered by her parents (Dinklage and Mann). Dawn gets a chance to break out of her protective shell when she meets Eep. The Bettermans are a little further along on the evolutionary scale, thus causing some family friction with the Paleolithic Croods.

DreamWorks Animation vet Joel Crawford (Trolls, Kung Fu Panda 3) directed the film, which marks his feature-length debut. Kevin and Dan Hageman (scribes of the big screen adaptation of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark) wrote the screenplay.

Check out the poster (a clear nod to the “March of Progress” illustration of an ape evolving into a man) below:

The Croods: A New Age heads out of the cave and into theaters Wednesday, Nov. 25.

(DreamWorks and SYFY WIRE are both owned by NBC Universal)
